Screening for Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Advanced Nursing and Health Systems Innovation (JANHSI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To ensure the originality of all submitted manuscripts, JANHSI enforces a strict plagiarism screening process prior to peer review.
1. Plagiarism Detection Tools
-
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
-
Similarity reports are generated and carefully reviewed by the editorial office to identify overlapping content.
2. Acceptable Similarity Threshold
-
A similarity index below 20% (excluding references, quotations, and methodological details) is generally considered acceptable.
-
Manuscripts with a similarity level between 20% and 30% will be reviewed carefully and may require revision.
-
Manuscripts with a similarity level above 30% may be rejected outright.
3. Forms of Plagiarism Monitored
The journal considers the following practices as serious publication misconduct:
-
Direct copy-pasting of text from other sources without proper citation.
-
Paraphrasing without appropriate attribution.
-
Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication of the author’s own previously published work without disclosure).
-
Image or data manipulation and misrepresentation.
4. Editorial Actions
-
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be returned to the author for clarification, revision, or rejection.
-
If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article may be retracted, and a formal notice of retraction will be issued.
-
The author’s affiliated institution may be notified in cases of severe misconduct.
5. Author Responsibilities
-
Authors must ensure that all sources are properly cited and acknowledged.
-
Authors are encouraged to screen their manuscripts for similarity prior to submission.
