Abstrak

Background – Implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols is often hindered by limited educational media and nursing workload, leading to delayed recovery in post-operative cancer patients. This study aims to optimize adherence to ERAS protocols through innovative structured digital video education.


Methods – A quantitative quasi-experimental study with a one-group pre-post test design was conducted on 15 patients at Dharmais Cancer Hospital. The intervention involved providing an 8-minute educational video accessible via barcode scanning during the perioperative phase. Adherence data were measured longitudinally using validated observation sheets and analyzed using the Friedman test.


Results – Respondents were predominantly female (73.3%) with a mean age of 55.3 years. Post-intervention, 100% adherence was recorded in diet, pain control, and wound cleanliness. Adherence to respiratory exercises reached 98.66%, while early mobilization was 71.42%. Challenges remain in the timely removal of invasive devices (IV lines/catheters) due to clinical complications. Overall, there was a significant positive trend in patient adherence.


Conclusion – Digital video-based ERAS education effectively enhances health literacy and adherence among surgical cancer patients. This media provides a consistent, visual, and flexible educational solution to support accelerated clinical recovery in hospital settings.
